Seldom Scene, 3-01-73

Here is a real classic, The Seldom Scene from 1973. They had only started as a group in 1971 (formed out of jam sessions in Ben Eldridge's basement. With the ground rules of playing only one night a week at local clubs (Thus the name Seldom Scene), doing occasional concerts and festivals on weekends, making records, and keeping their day jobs. Duffey repaired musical instruments, Eldridge was a mathematician, Starling a physician, Auldridge a graphic artist, and Gray a cartographer with National Geographic. The band's first home scene was the Red Fox Inn in Bethesda, Maryland, where they spent six years before starting weekly performances at The Birchmere Music Hall in Alexandria, Virginia. For this show they were the opening act for Doc and Merle Watson and I will post that show next.

Laurie Lewis & Her Bluegrass Pals, 8-12-2000

Here is a real nice show from one of the best female vocalists in bluegrass. The band is called her "Bluegrass Pals" and certainly Tom Rozum is that, being in various Laurie Lewis bands and projects. They even do bluegrass river rafting trips together. This is a nice soundboard recording of some great bluegrass.

Jethro Tull, 8-20-91 and 7-24-92

Here are two Jethro Tull radio broadcasts. The first is from a radio studio to promote the release of the album Catfish Rising. This one is very crisp and clean sounding but only 30 minutes. The second one is also a radio broadcast of a live concert at a music festival in Switzerland. The sound is not quite as good but from less than a year latter. Together they fit on one CD and are a good representation of the band from this time period.
