Richie Hayward, Little Feat Drummer, has passed away at the age of 64. He was suffering from liver cancer. Richie Hayward was a founding member of Little Feat. Apart from being a drummer, Richie was also a part time actor. His small role in the 60s TV comedy F Troop is still liked. Richie Hayward was a session musician too featuring on records for Eric Clapton, Ry Cooder, The Doobie Brothers, Robert Palmer, Warren Zeveon, Tom Waits, Robert Plant and Bob Seger over the years.Richie had said that he intended to come back the moment he got physically stable. But apparently God has other plans for Richie and he died on Thursday 12th August 2010. Goodbye Richie we will miss you!
Oh my day is so sad now. Richie had been ill for awhile, but to lose him is to feel the void for real. One of my top-five all-time drummers, I had the privilege of talking with him when Little Feat played Konocti Harbor in 90 or 91, and he was a sweet, great guy. Oh today is filled with tears.

An innovative drummer from an equally innovative band - my favorite concert moment (and I have been to many concerts) was when I first saw Little Feat perform in 1987 at a 600 seat auditorium at my school (URI) - hearing the opening of "Fat Man in the Bathtub" from 20 feet away was a musical nirvana that will never be repeated or surpassed. Rest in good peace, Richie.
